My favorite place in the world is a little farm stand near my house, on the corner of a country road in Sag Harbor. It is my happy place- a place where I can be inspired to make a delicious meal for loved ones and friends. Going there is a simple pleasure, and always a satisfying experience for the senses, for the produce and farm fresh food is gorgeous, ripe and in every color of the rainbow. I often do not know what I will make that evening, or I switch my plans up, based on the bounty that lays before me in the baskets and bins. Giant bouquets of basil may suggest pesto, a fresh delivery from the sea may offer perfect scallops. A bunch of rainbow carrots may indicate a roast chicken is in order, or the most beautiful arugula may call for chicken Milanese. So much to choose from, such beauty to behold. Going to shop there, and explore what the sweet farm stand has to offer, is never a chore or an errand for me. It is a quest to find something yummy and gorgeous to put on the plate, a chance to chat with the happy people that own it and work there. It is social event, an emotional connection, and it is heartwarming for me.
Yes, I am in love with my farm stand-
pure, head over heels, in love.
